Meet the Teacher:
Hi!
My name is Lacey Mecham and I’m excited that you are interested in The Little
Red Preschool. I have wanted to be a
teacher as long as I can remember. I
have taught preschool in my home in Lehi for the nine eleven years. Then in March of of 2013 our family moved to Santaquin where I resumed my in home preschool. Before that I
taught in Alpine School District in there title one preschool.
I have 5 wonderful kids. I have chosen
to teach preschool so that I can be home, while still having the opportunity to
teach and influence children. I believe children need a rich learning
environment with many learning experiences to excel in school. I’m
anxious to provide such opportunities for your child.
Philosophy:
Little Red Preschool is based upon the belief that young children
learn best in a safe, nurturing environment, which provides opportunities for
children to learn and develop through activities which are age and individually
appropriate. I believe that preschool age is the formative
developmental time for children. The program provides a rich
environment that promotes children’s active exploration in all areas of
development: physical, emotional, social and cognitive. Curriculum
is integrated into the classroom through a thematic approach whereby learning
activities are concrete, real, and relevant. Learning is an interactive
process between the teachers and the children. The environment and
activities are age appropriate and consider the different needs, interests, and
developmental levels of individual children. Children have opportunities
to play and work with other children; make choices and encounter consequences;
and negotiate social conflicts using appropriate language. They need
to begin to learn that their actions affect others. Learning to function
in a classroom environment is also a preschool focus. Students need to
learn to follow directions, work and clean together, listen and participate,
and sit during lessons. Large and fine motor skills need to be fine-tuned
at this time. I have a strong believe that new skills should be learned correctly,
rather than struggling to correct them in later years. Learning should be
fun and active with music, movement and enthusiasm!
Learning should be fun! I am dedicated to fun learning and to a positive preschool experience for you and your child. I look forward to a fun, exciting year!
